In industrial charcoal production, infrastructure often represents a significant share of total capital expenditure. Reinforced concrete foundations, complex site preparation, extended installation timelines, and permitting delays can substantially increase CAPEX and postpone revenue generation.
EKKO-2, developed by GREENPOWER, is engineered to minimize these barriers.
EKKO-2 is a modular batch-type carbonization furnace designed for installation on a prepared, leveled industrial place without the need for massive reinforced concrete foundations. The system operates with trolley-based loading (trolleys), integrated pyrolysis 2 chambers, firebox, afterburner with chimney and pre-drying system, including automated control system.
Commissioning is significantly faster compared to traditional stationary furnace complexes. Once the site is prepared and utilities connected, mechanical installation and startup can be completed within a short timeframe, allowing production to begin without prolonged construction phases.
Direct Economic Advantages
1. Reduced productionl Engineering Costs
Elimination of heavy concrete foundations and complex structural works reduces initial capital requirements. Investment is focused on productive equipment rather than immovable construction assets.
2. Shorter Time-to-Launch
Accelerated installation and commissioning reduce the time between capital investment and operational revenue. Faster startup improves project IRR and shortens payback periods.
3. Operational Flexibility
The modular design allows relocation if required — for example, when feedstock logistics change or production needs to move closer to raw material sources. This reduces long-term strategic risk associated with fixed infrastructure.
Technical Efficiency Beyond Infrastructure Savings
EKKO-2 ensures:
• Controlled batch carbonization with defined thermal profiles
• Uniform heat transfer to material inside the vagonetas
• Regulated air supply to the firebox and afterburner
• Complete afterburning of pyrolysis gases
• Stable final carbonization temperature
• Absence of oxidative processes in the reaction zone
The furnace utilizes pyrolysis gases as part of the thermal balance, reducing external fuel demand and improving energy efficiency. Integrated monitoring and ACS logic stabilize process parameters and reduce operator-dependent variability.
EKKO-2 is not simply a low-cost installation solution.
It is a compact, infrastructure-optimized production system designed to reduce CAPEX, shorten time-to-revenue, and provide predictable, high-quality charcoal output with controlled thermodynamics from the first production cycle.
