What is BioChar?

Biochar is now being described as the salvation of mankind. And not without reason. Experiments in agriculture show excellent results using biochar or charcoal to increase soil fertility. Biochar is a carbon-rich solid that has existed in the soil for thousands of years. Areas of application: bioenergy, agriculture, chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries.

It is now becoming increasingly adopted as a growth-promoter in commercial hydroponic horticulture.

Due to its specific properties, biochar improves soil quality with nutrients. In addition, its high porosity aids moisture retention in the soil, which ensures significant plant growth with reduced irrigation demand.
By definition, Biochar is a specially treated charcoal that is created during the process of pyrolysis under very low oxygen availability. Organic fertilizer Biochar, obtained as a result of low-temperature pyrolysis, contains carbon which is easily absorbed by the roots of plants. Moreover, biochar helps to reduce the content of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere by fixing elemental carbon which could otherwise evolve carbon dioxide or methane.

Since 2001, GreenPower has been specializing in the study of the processes of “pyrolysis”, “gasification” and “activation of charcoal”. Specifically we specialize in the development and introduction into mass production of equipment that uses these processes. We have developed a unique technology for the production of high-quality biochar from waste wood, forestry and agricultural residues.
