How to manufacture wood pellets
The production of energy from agricultural waste is closely connected to generating the thermal energy, which is converted into other types of energy – mechanical and electrical. And here, at least two problems are solved simultaneously – the utilization of some part of the waste and the saving natural resources.
What types of agricultural waste can be used? First of all, it is:
- stalks of sunflower and corn;
- vegetable tops;
- husk of crops and sunflower seeds;
- corn rods;
- buckwheat husk;
- nutshells and more.
Everything above-mentioned can be successfully used to manufacture additional types of energy.
For the making of solid biofuel, agricultural waste is crushed and compressed in a granulator press: the lignin, that contained in the raw material, glues them into small granules under the influence of high temperature. The result is fuel pellets and briquettes.
Demand for them is quite high, as the people use them for homes heating. This type of fuel is the most cost effective. Using briquettes and pellets is 5-6 times cheaper than using natural gas.
The EKKO-2 charcoal kiln manufactured by the Ukrainian company GreenPower is designed for low-temperature pyrolysis of carbonaceous materials of plant origin to produce qualitative charcoal, and the GP-350 extruder for the Pini-Kay briquettes manufacturing.
