Hookah charcoal and hazelnut shell fuel briquettes

Hookah charcoal and hazelnut shell fuel briquettes

The world produces about 800 thousand tons of hazelnuts per year.
Turkey is the largest producer of hazelnuts in the world with a production volume of 600 – 400 thousand tons over the past five years. It accounts for about 73% of world hazelnut production. The country exports most of the hazelnuts to the European market, the main consumers being Italy, France, Germany and the USA.

Italy ranks second with about 120 thousand tons of annual production.
Ukraine is also trying not to squeeze out of the world leaders in the production of nuts; in 2020, the area under walnut crops was increased in the country to 2,240 hectares of new walnut orchards and about 300 hectares of walnut plantations.
In 2019, in 2020, 2 thousand hectares of new plantations of nuts were laid in Ukraine, of which 1.039 thousand hectares fell on hazelnuts, and 0.961 thousand hectares for walnuts.
Over the past 10 years, the production of hazelnuts in the world has grown by 4%, while prices – by 45%.
That is, in the world there is a demand for hazelnuts, which, despite the increasing areas for tree planting, is still not satisfied. The growing interest in the cultivation of hazel, which we have seen recently, is probably due to the fact that the EU Agriculture Committee provides special subsidies to people who grow this plant on an area of at least 1 hectare.
Hazelnuts are used not only in the confectionery industry, but they are also used to make flour, milk and cream, as well as one of the best vegetable oils. Halva is prepared from the cake. 400 gr. hazelnut kernels provide the daily calorie requirement of an adult. Non-drying hazelnut oil, excellent taste, easily absorbed by the body.

But most walnut producers recycle the walnut shells, mostly burn, and this is 50% of the total nut. That is, if the world production of nuts at the moment is 800 thousand tons, then 400 thousand tons of shells are burned, and this, in turn, is pollution of the atmosphere with harmful emissions and gases.
In turn, hazelnut shells, which have a high density and carbon content that exceeds those of ordinary wood, is an excellent raw material for the production of charcoal – barbecue charcoal briquettes and hookah charcoal.

In turn, from charcoal obtained from hazelnut shells and seeds of fruits, you can also obtain activated carbon, which is characterized by high strength and very thin pores, with an internal specific surface area of about 500 m2 / g, the oxygen content in such coals is 3-5% (see more here).
Active carbon is the only type of sorbent that has a high adsorption capacity for the extraction of toxic organic contaminants from water. All potable water supply and deep (below the limit permissible concentrations) wastewater treatment is based on the use of powdered and granulated active carbons. For these purposes, about 30% of the world production of active coal is spent.
Charcoal is produced in the BIO-KILN charcoal kiln, which is designed for the processing of finely dispersed raw materials of plant origin (for the production of charcoal for hookah and fuel briquettes for barbecue, various nut shells are ideal – coconut, walnut, hazelnut shells). After carbonization in the BIO-KILN charcoal kiln, the finished charcoal is sent to the briquetting line for pressing into hookah cubes or fuel briquettes for barbecue.
