Cela est d\u00fb \u00e0 la lib\u00e9ration de dioxyde de carbone dans l&#8217;atmosph\u00e8re. Pour restaurer la plan\u00e8te, il est n\u00e9cessaire de bloquer le dioxyde de carbone d\u00e9j\u00e0 lib\u00e9r\u00e9 et d&#8217;emp\u00eacher la p\u00e9n\u00e9tration de nouveau. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la s\u00e9questration du carbone, les niveaux de dioxyde de carbone atmosph\u00e9rique diminuent et les niveaux de mati\u00e8re organique du sol augmentent. La solution au probl\u00e8me semblerait simple &#8211; il suffit de planter une for\u00eat, mais comme le montrent de nouvelles recherches men\u00e9es par des scientifiques du Centre CEES pour l&#8217;innovation scientifique amazonienne (CINCIA), la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 derri\u00e8re cette approche de lutte contre le changement climatique est beaucoup plus compliqu\u00e9e qu&#8217;il n&#8217;y para\u00eet. Il est important de bien prendre en compte la quantit\u00e9 de carbone lors de la plantation d&#8217;une for\u00eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>David Lefebvre, chercheur CINCIA \u00e0 l&#8217;Universit\u00e9 de Cranfield au Royaume-Uni, s&#8217;est demand\u00e9 quelle est l&#8217;empreinte carbone d&#8217;un site de reboisement. Apr\u00e8s tout, la plantation d&#8217;arbres est un processus complexe qui n\u00e9cessite des co\u00fbts d&#8217;\u00e9nergie et de carburant, de la culture de semis dans une p\u00e9pini\u00e8re au transport de personnes pour planter des arbres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 l&#8217;aide des donn\u00e9es du programme de reboisement CINCIA, Lefebvre et son \u00e9quipe de recherche ont effectu\u00e9 une \u00e9valuation du cycle de vie de l&#8217;empreinte carbone de l&#8217;\u00e9tablissement et de la gestion d&#8217;un site de reboisement de for\u00eat tropicale sur une p\u00e9riode d&#8217;un an. CINCIA plante des arbres depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es dans la r\u00e9gion de Madre de Dios au P\u00e9rou. \u00c0 ce jour, ils ont rebois\u00e9 42,5 hectares de terrain, l&#8217;\u00e9quivalent d&#8217;environ 106 terrains de soccer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le biochar est un ingr\u00e9dient cl\u00e9 de l&#8217;approche de CINCIA en mati\u00e8re de reforestation. Le biochar est une substance issue du recyclage des d\u00e9chets m\u00e9nagers, il s&#8217;apparente au charbon de bois. En utilisant une approche d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e en collaboration avec des scientifiques de Wake Forest, dont Abdu Lachgar, membre du CEES et professeur de chimie, CINCIA produit son propre biochar \u00e0 partir de coques de noix du Br\u00e9sil par pyrolyse. \u00ab La pyrolyse est la combustion de la biomasse \u00e0 des temp\u00e9ratures \u00e9lev\u00e9es avec peu ou pas d&#8217;apport d&#8217;oxyg\u00e8ne, \u00e9vitant ainsi la conversion de la biomasse en cendres \u00bb, explique Lefebvre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Green Power a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 un ensemble de fours de carbonisation performants dont une des possibilit\u00e9s est de produire du biochar.
